FYI, I ordered the Space Usagi Hardcover from comics now a few weeks ago. today I got this email:
Dear Mr. Takahara:
Thank you for the e-mail and order.
Your shipment was returned to us yesterday, due to a mis-sort by the
carrier. The items on your order were in damaged condition in the returned
package. We placed an order for brand new replacements for you, and the
replacements are currently on back-order with the publisher. Do you wish
to keep these items on back-order, cancel the order and receive a refund,
or cancel the back-order and order other items?
Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

Bummer. I asked for a refund since I don't think my chances of getting the limited edition on back order are very good.
But thanks for the initial tip. It was exciting while it lasted.

I ordered a couple s/n usagi books from Comics Now through Amazon, after Thomas had asked me to be intermediary for him. Exact same results. I received a similar letter a couple weeks after I had already requested and received a refund initiated through Amazon.
Apparently, if you read their feedback (positive as well as negative) these guys have the worst post ofice in the world, considering how many books are "supposedly" returned to them by the post office damaged. Their feedback rating actually dropped 2% during the couple weeks that I was waiting on my order.
Personally, I think they deliberately list stuff they do not have as a cheap "bait and switch" scam, hoping the customers will buy something else instead of asking for their money back. Also, the USPS should look into all these claims of mis-sorted, lost, and damaged packages which Comics Now is blaming them for.
I ordered #22 about a month ago and so far this is my favorite book for two reasons: to learn about Tomoe; and now claiming my favorite story to Usagi, "Chanoyu."
I've always had good luck with TFAW http://www.tfaw.com/. I pre-order and they ship it immediately when its available. I received mine back in July, # 9 of 300. I usually get a low number, I've always wandered if the numbered books are randomly distributed to retailers or do the largest sellers get the lowest numbers ?
Hmm, my local comic shop called me this morning to "confess" that they somehow fumbled my pre-order and that they can't get a copy through their normal distribution now....
So I'm down to some deperate measures...

At least your comic shop is the one that screwed up. Mine actually ordered it on time from Diamond and never got their copy. So now I'm hunting around online for a HC copy of Book 22.

The same with the comic shop I go to.... I was told that Diamond did not order enough copies of the HC So now the hunt for HC 22 begins...
