Usagi from me...Mickmo

Post by mickmoart »

Hello there, first time poster on these forums.....I drew this piece after meeting Stan Sakai at Mo-Kan Comics Conspiracy 2008.

(I was there plugging stuff from Radio Comix and Antartctic Press. Mostly Furrloughs and Pirates Vs Ninjas Annuals 1's...mostly. If you read Furrlough, then you may have heard of me.)

Well, I did my own extreme version of Usagi Yojimbo here. So I do hope you like this. If it is too big, then I apologize for the size in advance.....

Image

Well, at least somebody will see it on here....I had problems sending this thing to the YU letters, which was unfortunate. (They were giving me the runaround, and I was upset at the time...)

Anyway, I got more stuff over on http://mickmoart.deviantart.com there.

Hope you like my art here....if you do, it could make me feel a bit better. Anyway....thanks....

Yeah man, very nice extreme Usagi!! Your pic even inspired thoughts of an edgy Usagi who has special razor blades attached to his ears, so he could whip his ears around to do some damage too. That's more of a modern Usagi though. Cool pic! Keep it up!

Nice work! :D It would be cool to see it in an upcoming issue of Usagi.

Have you tried sending a printed version of the piece to Dark Horse Comic through the regular mail? That way they can scan the piece into whatever format that is needed for their printing process.

Welcome to the forum,
and what a way to make a first appearance! Whow!!

And I can only second Steve's comment, that would really add to any given issue of UY; or why not use it as a back cover?!

Looking forward to seeing more of that stuff.
Greetings from overseas

Well, I don't have a copier....but I may try to do that if I can find one.

(That lady who answers the mail columns in Usagi said they would not publish me with only 1 name....which seemed a but frustrating to me at the time. Then I thought to myself, don't D'Israeli and Moebius have one name too, and they are doing stuff for Dark Horse?)

Yeah, I wish they would use it as a back cover or an insert, that would be way cool. If you know of anyone in Dark Horse who would publish that, hopefully somebody could direct me to a email contact too....

(Yes, I recently got published in Pirates Vs Ninjas Annual 1, Ninja High School Yearbook 20, Hit The Beach 14 and Furrlough 184....in the same month! So bug your comics stores for those issues....)

I am glad this piece got such a responce! This is way cool!

Wow... quite different, yet impressive. Reminds me a bit of the Gorillaz style of design.
