Word from the Cannes premiere overall seems to be pretty good. Here's a brief, relatively spoiler-free review that I just found on the BBC site:

I'm really looking forward to this. It's been a while since I've watched the first three Indiana Jones movies, but I'm going to pencil in some time to revisit them on DVD before the new movie comes out.

Meh. I can't muster much enthusiasm for that idea. I thought that Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was going to be the last Indiana Jones movie. I enjoy the series a lot, but ending it there probably wouldn't be a bad idea.ethanextravaganza wrote:George Lucas has already anounced a little bit of information about the next Indiana Jones movie and Shia LeBouf will have the lead role. I wonder if that will take some of the greatness out of it.

I saw the movie last night. It was pretty messy in places, and it's easily my least favorite Indiana Jones movie, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit. Still, I really have to disagree with people who say that it's better than Temple of Doom and equal to Last Crusade (Temple of Doom has some pretty stupid stuff that makes me cringe every time I watch it, but I still have a lot of fondness for it).
Even though it has its weaknesses, there were some parts I liked quite a bit (I won't go into too much detail to avoid spoilers). The Paramount mountain gag at the beginning made me laugh. I'm not sure that anyone else has commented on this, but I'm pretty sure that Shia LeBouf's character being named "Mutt" is a little bit of an inside joke since Indiana was named after George Lucas's dog and Willie and Short Round in Temple of Doom were named after other people's dogs.

I saw it....I enjoyed it alot. It gets ALOT better in second viewings. It would have been great had they added Sean Connery in there though.
I'd rank the movies like this:
1 - Raiders
2 - Temple of Doom/Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
3 - Last Crusade
The movie was less campy than the third movie which was what I was hoping for going in. Some great action scenes in there too and John William's score is always great. The "Jungle Chase" scene has to be the best part of the whole movie I think.
So far, Iron Man and Indy 4 are the good ones to see this Summer.
Now I'm gonna see Tarsem's "The Fall" next!

This was sketched for my friend Miguel from Spain. He brought two cans of Bitter Kas to San Diego for me. When I go to Spain, I bring a can of root beer for him.VikingSpawn wrote: UY in Indy duds!
