Is it possible someone call fantagraphics for me ? if it is possible to buy it directly it would be simple.
I finally got around to calling Fantagraphics Books to check on the availability of any more of these, mainly because Fanfan asked if someone would check for him.

After first talking to a couple people at Fantagraphics Books (who probably thought I was nuts for inquiring about a twenty year old limited edition print), I was offered the suggestion of trying the Fantagraphics Bookstore.

I called the number provided and spoke to someone who knew exactly what I was referring to. Long story short, this evening I bought the last two prints they had in stock. Fanfan already has dibs on the first one, but the second one is unspoken for since I already have one for myself.

I thought of offering it for sale to another Dojo member, but I am unsure of a reasonable way to pick who I should offer it to. So instead, I am going to save it until 2009 and then offer it as a prize in some type of contest celebrating Usagi Yojimbo's 25th anniversary.

As for what type of contest, I have no idea at this point, but I am open for suggestions either here on this thread or by PM.

Abayo,
Steve

That's awesome. What a great story/find.

Suggestions:

1) A drawing again like you all did for the roel UY statue that I didn't win. Maybe this time I'll win!

2) Submit a 600 (or less) words essay to introduce the next UY graphic novel collection.

3) Usagi Yojimbo Haiku contest.

4) Create a new UY character: Have Mr. Sakai draw a body without a head. Fans download that drawing, add a head (draw, photoshop, whatever) and post their results on line. Fans, UY staff, or Mr. Sakai vote on who's is the winner. A "come draw with me" project: http://www.graphesthesia.com/%7emm/first/draw_set.html
and http://www.markmartin.net/cdwm/throo.html

5) Lyrics contest to the official UY theme song.

6) DV/Youtube UY contest. Submit 30 seconds videos on UY.

On a different note, someday we should do a UY dojo sketchcrawl: http://www.sketchcrawl.com/

As Go says, Thanks for the fun Steve!

Peace, maka

Well, the idea of using the second "Banner" print as a prize in a 25th anniversary Dojo raffle or contest is out the window.

Apparently, the US or French postal service has managed to lose the first print I mailed to Fanfan, so now I get to mail him the second print, hoping it isn't lost in transit as well.

(Not only won't there be a cool prize for a 25th anniversary contest, I am basically out the cost of the second print, postage, and extra fees for tracking and delivery confirmation so it is not "lost" this time around - :? )
