Congrats to Mr. Sakai for the Comic Art Museum retrospective, you certainly have earned it! It’s such a unique little unassuming place that has really done honors to the artist and their wonderful talents. An old girlfriend of mine once bought me an “SF Weekend”, the highlight of which was a Will Eisner & Harvey Kurtzman ((
WEHK for all you old MAD readers)) retrospective.
Oh this is all great news!
I’m a new dojo member but I am going to try to be first in line for ((whatever there will be a line for)) for Mr. Sakai & Mr. Aragones. Those two are the whole reason I’m coming. This is my first ever “con” so I’m not too sure what to expect, I was even surprised that its more than a one day event. Another thing I’d like to do, since Daredevil is my all-time favorite character, is I’d like to meet DD writer Ed Brubaker. He has very capably taken over storytelling duties from the exceptional Bendis/Maleev era.
I was truly panicked because I hadn’t been able to find any schedule for the weekend but now I can just base my schedule of events around this:
Stan Sakai wrote:I received my schedule for WonderCon:
Friday night--reception at the Cartoon Art Museum for Art of Stan Sakai show 8-11:00. Open to the public.
Saturday 3-4:00 room 232/234--Groo with Sergio, Mark, and Stan
Sunday 12-1:00 room 220/224--Spotlight on Stan Sakai
Otherwise, I will be at my Artist Alley table--AA025. I believe it is an endcap, near Sergio Aragones.
Like I said, I’m a stone cold newbie to the whole comic convention thing. I plan on coming out Friday and purchasing a few UY pieces, a few Groo pieces, and hopefully getting original sketchbook sketches from the aforementioned Messrs. Sakai & Aragones.
Will that be possible on Friday?
Lastly, if the dojo
IS doing anything during the weekend, dinner – meet n’ greet – whatever, I’d like to be in on it! I know a place near the Moscone Center that serves the best unagi I’ve ever had.
