Hawaii's love affair with canned item (SPAM) continues
Hey Stan,
Seeing that you were raised in Hawaii can you relate to the SPAM love?

Not only is SPAM made in Minnesota where I live, we, also, have the SPAM Museum. http://www.spam.com/museum/
I've never been a fan of it, but, after reading the article I had to share it!

Of course I can relate to this. I grew up on Spam sandwiches, Spam strips on cold somen noodles, and Spam, eggs and rice for breakfast. Spam musubi came later, though.
We don't feel right unless we have Spam in the pantry. We just have one low-sodium can right now, the lone survivor of a six-pack that we bought at Costco.
When I was in Tokyo, we went to an "American delicacy" store, and was surprised to see Spam there. Japanese tourists to Hawaii bring back Spam as omiyage (travel gifts) to their friends. On that same trip, I remember a very nice conversation with cartoonist Lynn Johnston on the wonders of Spam, of which she is also a fan. No other canned "meat" will do.
Hey, if Monty Python can make a song out of it...

Lol, thanks so much for sharing a bit of 'your cupboard' if you will. If you ever get to the Midwest for a Con (hint hint) or just want an excuse to visit Minnesota remember this is where it's made!

Hawaiians expressed their long-held devotion for Spam, that I-get-no-respect canned meat staple, with its Seventh Annual Spam Jam Festival in Waikiki.
The Spam Jam on Saturday in the nation's 50th state not only celebrated the Minnesota-based food but also benefited two Hawaiian nonprofits with Hormel Foods of Austin, Minn., donating 3,500 pounds of Spam.
