I just wanted to get a general feel for something. I've been considering doing a comic about a samurai. I was wondering what you all would think of that. Is there enough room for another samurai comic on the market, or do I back off and leave that to the great Sakai?

Hey
There is always more room for Samurai comics.
Usagi is a great comic but more comics is always better.

Re: Samurai Comics
My guess would be that this heavily depends on what "enough room for another" means. If you plan to get rich: I doubt that you could get much more money out of it than Stan (No, I have no idea how much he makes, so don't askLogan Myrddin wrote:I just wanted to get a general feel for something. But hey, maybe people will approach Stan in one year telling him "Why don't you draw like Logan? You could be a millionaire by now!"
Only one thing is for sure: If you want to leave footprints of your own, you must leave the beaten path.

Thank you.
Thank you all for your wonderfully reencouraging responses. To answer one question that was raised in answer to my own, I do not hope to get rich off of my comics, nor even to surpass Mr. Sakai. I can only hope to add something to the market that others might enjoy reading in addition to Usagi. I can't really expect to ever surpass Usagi. I just don't think that's very practical, or even possible, really. I'm good, but I'm not THAT good. I just hope I can have fun doing comics, that's all. Not get rich. If I wanted to get rich I'd choose something else. But I don't want to get rich; I want to have fun, and to me, doing comics is REALLY fun. So thank you all for reencouraging me to follow this wonderful path.

Re: Thank you.
Well, in that case have you ever thought about publishing your work online like I do? Maybe you can send us an example of your work and I can add it to the dojo. If people like it, we could do a UYD Online Comic section.Logan Myrddin wrote:I just hope I can have fun doing comics, that's all. Not get rich. If I wanted to get rich I'd choose something else.
