I am seriously considering putting my set up as well, for this kind of money.

I don't have any Groo trading cards, but I would gladly let go of them for that kind of money if I did (I always thought that trading cards had to be mint or al least near-mint to be worth much of anything, but I guess that that's not always true). I do have an unopened box of trading cards from the movie Akira that I've been trying to sell for a while for about $60, but I haven't had much luck with that yet.

Yeah, for some reason the Groo cards have been in very high demand on the secondary market. I'm not real sure why, but I suspect they were underprinted considerably.

Yeah, Groo fans are collectors! Where do you think I learned to be such an obsessive Usagi fan?

I bought a complete set of the Groo trading cards (minus the nine "Images of Groo" chase cards) on ebay a while back for $80, just to be able to have the seller ship it to another Groo fan as a surprise.

I've had my own complete set of Groo cards practically since they were released, minus the chase cards though. I do have the "Images of Groo" card which Stan contributed to the set.

The set which just sold on ebay did include all nine of the chase cards.

Ah. chase cards. Guess that explains the price then...

Besides Groo collectors being quite fanatical, it was not easy to complete an entire set of Groo cards. You could not do it by buying a box of cards. Mark Evanier even set up a free card exchange service, where you sent all your extra Groo cards and could request cards you were missing. When you factor in the chase cards, it was even harder to amass a complete set.

I think I have two sets of these, including chase cards and a very hard to find signature card on which Sergio drew an original picture (I think there were 50 of these, total). Sergio was opening up a box, and found one so gave it to me. I think one of these went for $400.

I also have two uncut sheets of the chase cards, that is all 9 cards on a single sheet. Actually, two sheets because they came in two parts--one sheet was the trading card art, and there was an acetate overlay with the border. I've never seen any of these for sale.
