I have very mixed feelings about this volume.
I would LOVE to finally own a handsome hardcover collection of Usagi stories AT THEIR ORIGINAL SIZE, but only if I can have the whole collection that way. It seems silly to upgrade from the individual comics and only do it part way.
I don't doubt that Dark Horse would be willing to do companion volumes if this one sells well, but will we ever see a Mirage volume? Would it really make sense for them to put together such an effort for only 16 issues?
What's contained in this?

As you know from the UY GN (I plan to read your reviews on Amazon when I return home to a real desktop computer verses the iPhone) the Mirage issues were reprinted (by Dark Horse, I believe).
But I don't know if we will ever see a Dark Horse complete hardcover volumes of Usagi. Does it make business sense? In the economic downturn, is it worth it to produce and will it make money?
DH has published hardcover collections of Sin City and Hellboy (of course those are also blockbuster movies). They also produced The Art of books for all three titles but that included new material.
Like you, I would love to see all the UY issues treated to deluxe hard covers collections. But if that is not possible, I still look forward to purchasing this collection. As long as I have the extra money, the collector in me wants to be as complete as I can.

Peace, maka

I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't realize Dark Horse had been the one printing the Trades of the Mirage issues. Thanks for that valuable bit of info, Maka. It gives me hope that there may be more of these, after all!Maka wrote:

I'm a bit late adding details to this, but the 16 Mirage issues were reprinted by Dark Horse as Usagi books 8 (#1–#6, part of #7 and #8) and 9 (#9–#14 and the rest of #7 and #8), and the first chapters of book 10 (#15 and #16).
All three will be rereleased next year with some updates to the designs and completely remastered artwork.
