'I love comics!' (Dark Horse loves Stan!)

Post by tru2gzus »

Ok, I hope my subject header wasn't too confusing. I was reading Star Wars Legacy #39 tonight. It was a great read and I got to the very last ad inside the back cover. I smiled a great big smile as I saw a picture of Stan as a toddler holding a book. Dark Horse pulled off a nice tribute with this ad. :)

Fixed the link Mayhem!

Can't click the link, does the pic need to be set to public on MySpace?

Have you seen this ad elsewhere ?

I would like to get it.

Stan, have you given this photo, or was it a surprise from your family ?

I have not seen the final ad myself, but saw the mock-up. I supplied the photo. I was 18 months old, still living in Japan. My father took the picture, and I asked DH to give him the photo credit. I was holding a Little Golden Book (Hiawatha, I think), rather than a comic book.

DH is running a series of these. The proposal they sent me was one using the picture from The Artist Within book by Greg Preston. I wanted it to be something a bit different.

Haha, I was going to say a Little Golden Book too! It looked very familiar. They had the same 'ad' on the backs of so many of those classics.[/quote]

I tried posting the ad on my Live Journal blog, but I only have it as a pdf, which LJ does not support. I haven't figured out how to convert it to a jpeg.

Thank you, Mayhem. I could not use it though, because it was for a PC, and I'm a mac user.

I did figure it out, though. It was fairly easy once I knew what I was doing. Here is the link:

OS X screen shot

Post by go »

Dear Readers,
Sensei, have you tried taking a screen shot?
On your Mac open the picture you wish to convert.
Press command shift and 4 all at the same time.
Your cursor arrow is now a crosshair radical.
Place the crosshair in the upper left corner of the picture you wish to capture.
Hold down the left button on your mouse and drag your mouse diagonally to the far corner.
Notice the shadow area created by the crosshair?
When you let go of the mouse button what ever is in shadow will be taken as a screen shot.
The screen shot appears on your desk top and is called screen shot with the date and time it was taken.
The screen shot is saved as a "Portable Network Graphics image" which i think will solve your problem.
Taking an OS X screen shot is a lot easier to do than it is to explain.
I also use a screen shot to reduce the file size of larger images.
You choose and crop the image so you don't need to edit it later.
I hope this helps.
Thanks again for all of the fun!
Best wishes to all.
