yokai-when will it be released?
hi, fellow uy dojo members and sensei!
today I coincidentally noticed that amazon shows some art of yokai, a look inside the book, so to say...I must say that I was very delighted!!....I love to see both sides of the uy universe, the original black and white and then the occasional glimpse into the world of colors...astounding art work!!
now, I was able to pre order this beauty but after first steps of investigation I could'nt find any dates determing when the yokai-25th anniversary-gift will be released...can anyone tell me when the book will be published?I read somewhere in november but does anyone know for sure?...well does ANY...?SENSEi?:).....
I want to add I love the image of usagi in a wild pose under a wide star bearing night sky....faboulous!!!
peace

According to TFAW, the Yokai GN is coming out on November 25. Amazon.com says that it's coming out on December 23, but I have a feeling that that's a mistake. The price at Amazon.com is a little lower than at TFAW.

While we're on this subject, has anyone read this book? It came up when I searched for "yokai" at Amazon:

Oh cool, any chance you will being working any signings on the east coast? I would even go and beg the PR person at the bookstore I am in to contact Dark Horse to see if we could have a signing there. But that is awesome Dark Horse is actually going to have you do such a big signing all over the place, instead of a limited one just in LA.
Also have a great time in Japan, I gather it is a family visit for the holiday right. One day I am going to have to see Japan for myself, my Dad was stationed there in the 70's at a Coast Guard Radio Station Base in Hokaido and I have a friend right now over there teaching English to students in Osaka. He loves it cause he is a few blocks away from the Anime/video gamer geek central Denden Town and he lives in an apartment right behind the national Bunraku Theater.

thank you for the answers!wow, i cannot wait to read it....whenever a story mingles with old mythics and treats the mythical content with seriousness it is going to be exciting and interesting...that's a thing I admire in the john carpenter movie big trouble in lil china town, for example...there it was old chinese black magic powers...,)

While not exactly a S/N Edition, there is a second exclusive book plate available with Usagi Yojimbo: Yokai orders placed through Panel2Panel.
http://www.paneltopanel.net./paneltopanel.net wrote:The same bookplate which is being offered with Volume 23 is also being offered with the Fantagraphics boxed set. Stan is producing an all new bookplate for the YOKAI book, and copies of that book can be pre-ordered now at www.paneltopanel.net (in the EXCLUSIVES section). Order now, and you just may be lucky enough to have your ordered shipped in a Stan Sakai sketched envelope! (pictures are available on the Panel to Panel Facebook page and Panel to Panel blog).

Yokai is a brand new, fully painted, original hardcover graphic novel--the first of its kind in Usagi history. It is a stand alone story, but will also expand upon the background of established characters.abarron wrote:Sorry guys new to the board but been a long time Usagi fan.
Is Yokai a stand alone story?
Is this book the only place to get the story?
Thanks for the help
I very much doubt that this will be contained in an upcoming collection. However, I do have photocopies of the black and white line art, and may, in the very far future, redraw them for inclusion. Right now, I do not plan to do it, though.
As posted earlier, Panel2Panel does have a promotion that if you buy a copy from them, you will get a free signed bookplate. As with the last such promotion, I will have a limited number of plates that I will give free to Dojo members, while they last. It may not be for awhile though, unless someone would like to take on the chores of distribution.
