Damn, that piece is tempting....

Sensei, do you have any idea how much you've been paid for that (if any)??

I doubt I'll bid on it, just curious...

Taking advantage of Sensei Sakai...

Post by go »

Dear Thomas,
The comicmonster is taking advantage of Sensei Sakai's generosity.
This appears to be a free drawing given as a gift not as a something to sell for profit on eBay.
The comicmonster (collective?) has taken advantage of our Sensei before.
Caveat emptor.
Best wishes to all (yes, even to the comicmonster)

Yes, go, I know.
My only hope is that Sensei could remember the guy he'd given that piece; and my further hope is that he did't get it completely for free but paid some kind of fee for that (probably far less than appropriate).
Greetings from overseas

This was a paid-for piece. I very rarely do free drawings anymore (though the crayon drawing at Baltimore was a freebie).

I was paid for it, so have no trouble with him selling it.

Nice sketch! From the look on Usagi's face in it, Usagi is trying to figure out what he is doing out on that little rock pedestal in the middle on no where, and wondering how he is going to get the heck back off it.

I am always astonished by all this, it looks like business for some guys. I wouldn't sell my signings, this is something personal, with usually an history (i could understand if it was a problem of money).

Many people do it to pay off costs from attending shows. If the only people who attended shows were those who could afford it without having to do that then things would be a little less crowded ;)

Well let's take SDCC for example. $100 to get in for four days, say $50 per day accommodation (assuming some sharing if in a group), then food and drink on top of that... it all adds up. Even this slightly generous calculation takes things probably close to $400 or more. And that's before the cost of travel to get there either, or anything you want to buy. At the other end of the scale is me and how much I spend for the event

I don't condone the reselling, but I understand why people do it...

And for those who buy the stuff, this may be the only way they can get any of Stan's work which obviously they admire a lot!! :) Too bad Dark Horse didn't advertise the Dojo in it's UY comic (if it does I missed it).

The Usagi Yojimbo Dojo is listed on the letter page right below the web-page address for Dark Horse Comics (lower right corner)
