Calgary--what to bring

Post by Stan Sakai »

It's a few weeks before I head over to the Calgary Expo. If you will be there, is there anything you would like me to bring?

I will be bringing some con drawings, copies of Book 1 and Yokai, and some sketchbooks. If there is something other than thatl you would like, contact me either on this thread or by PM. Unfortunately, I will not have time to do any commissions before the event.

I also did a color drawing for their HC artbook and auction.

Anyone attending the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo on April 24th and 25th, be sure to attend the following panel which Stan will be participating in.
Creating Your Own Comic Property
Scary Godmother (Jill Thompson), the Goon (Eric Powell), Usagi Yojimbo (Stan Sakai), and Grendel (Matt Wagner). Get an insight on these creators path to their own comic properties.

I'm very, very excited to actually meet you and thank you for such great comics over the years. For many years I have been a fan of anthropomorphic comics (from Uncle Scrooge to Critters to Albedo to ... some rabbit with a sword.. :)

I can't think of what I would specifically like at the show, but I'll be there to get something and have it signed.

Do you do commissions at the show? Or take payment for future commissions? I am trying to collect commissions around a "theme" (see link) and would absolutely love to add some of your artwork.

I'm off to the airport.

Those of you who requested stuff, make sure you introduce yourselves and remind me what you wanted.

As for Albedo #2, that really has to be negotiated way ahead of time, because I have got to move boxes and dig through stuff to even get to them.

Whoa! I was joking... I didn't even know there was the remotest possibility of an Albedo #2. It's one of my "grail" books - I started buying Albedo at issue #4 and just the other day found an old letter that I got from Steve back in the "day" when I lived on the island (Vancouver Island that is).

Have a nice trip up to Calgary. It's a little chilly (it rained last night), but the sun is out, the sky is blue, and there are fans-a-waitin'

The convention looks like it will be huge. It's been doubling in size every year and I am sure you won't be disappointed.
