Good day dudes,
I have a Usagi Sketch that I got from Mr. Sakai at the LBCE up for auction on ebay right now.
ALL of the $$$ is donated to the Great Strides Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Here is the link, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :MESELX:IT
It is a beautiful sketch, and I though that you guys would want to know about it. I have a few other sketches up for auction also, and have more to come. And with ALL sketches, ALL $$$$ goes right to the CF foundation.
Thanks, C

My friend's daughter is doing ok right now, but a few months ago..... it was touchy. That is the thing, with CF (especially with kids) you just never know. A common cold can really become a problem. But at the same time research is going well. SO there is some REAL hope down the road.Maka wrote:Great cause Elveen. My wife's auntie/Godmother died from cystic fibrosis. She actually lived longer than expected and was able to have a son before she passed away. Thanks for doing your part to raise awareness and money for finding a cure. And thanks to Stan for supporting it too! Peace, maka
And as for Stan. He is just the king. If anyone has not been able to meet him yet. Find a way to come out to SDCC and spend time talking to him. He is so genuine and personable. Always smiling and so friendly.
I have gotten to know a lot of creators, and for the most part they are all great people, but Stan just sticks out as a amazing human. Forget how talented and creative he is. Stan is a wonderful person.
And just so this does not appear to be kissing up. I belong to another forum and this is what I have written about Stan in the past.
Elveen wrote:Up next a man that needs no introduction, Stan Sakai. When I knew that Stan was going to be at the con, I was stoked. (I actually brought a TPB to have him sign it for my daughters. He not only signed it to them, but did a pretty big sketch in the book also. SO COOL!)
But..... I was not sure if I was going to ask him to do another sketch for us, he has done a great sketch for us the last 2 years at SDCC (last year he did a Usagi in full armor, it went for over $100), I did not want to "wear out my welcome". So I went up to him, (he recognized and remembered me, which, honestly, is a pretty good feeling.) I had him sign the TPB for my kids and then I decided to go for it, and ask him for a sketch. He of course said yes.
(a quick bit about Stan. Later on in the con I saw him walking around, talking to people, and I think he had a sketch book and was getting sketches from other artists. he is just such a down to earth guy. He is easily one of my favorite creators, period. And by the way, how cool would it be to have Stan Sakai do Valiant Stories? Could anything be cooler?)
So, anyways, I went back later and got the sketch. As always, Stan does more than is required. He is just a wonderful guy.
And just in case any more evidence is needed for his coolness. He asked me to contact him when I auction off the art and he will make a post in his blog and on his message board about the sale. Stan Sakai = A+!

I have been fortunate to have communication with Mr. Sakai a few times during the year, he is just such a nice and super talented man. If you have not read an Usagi, you need to. But really, he is just so nice and willing to help.
Lat year we had a great outline full backerboard sketch of Usagi done by Mr. Sakai, and I was very happy and thankful for it. (it sold very well, Usagi has a great following, he has his own message board at his site.) I was curious to see what he would do this year. I knew he would do a sketch, we had talked about it prior to the con.
What I got BLEW me away. If you are not a Usagi fan, or know nothing about Usagi, know this..... his fans will eat this up. Mr. Sakai went waaaaaaaay beyond the call of duty. Like so many of the other sketches, this is more of an commission.
So, Mr. Sakai. Thanks again. Hopefully this sketch does well and that puts us that much closer to a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
One saying that we have is "One day CF will stand for Cure Found."
