We are in Berlin!

Post by Stan Sakai »

Sharon and I made it okay, but it was a long day--leaving LA Sunday afternoon, and arriving at our hotel Monday at 5 PM.

Thomas picked us up at the airport with his daughter, and a surprise guest. Can you guess who it was? We are going out to dinner tonight, then sending the day with Dojo members tomorrow.

hey stan!
first of all welcome to germany!hope you are feeling fine after such a long trip!tonight I saw something on television that could be interesting to you guys should you get to have any spare time by chance(which I doubt)...anyhow...I watched a documentary on hitler's secret subteranian city underneath berlin, there is an official group guiding tours for interested people through the still existing bunkers under berlin's streets and parks...they sometimes are up to 50 m deep!!!!....some of which represent the avenues to former third reich government buildings and even a big highway which was to have been leading as an entrance to his insane 'world capital city' germania....
the group is called 'berlins unterwelten e.v.' if you want to find out what's it all about....
please write one of your fine travel reports when you have the time;)always interesting
peace

another thing, I just learned through today's news that you are visiting berlin on a historical special day.as we all know Germany was divided into two countries during the cold war.it was on the 31st of august exactly twenty years ago that politic leaders of both former conflicted systems signed a contract to join forces and become one country again.the east decided to unite with the west so to say....
have you witnessed any of the city's celebrations, today?(the contract was signed in berlin back in the days...)
peace
and class dissmissed...;)

yip...should be a day of peace actually..but the news casts are full of reports on a scandle concerning racist comments of a certain politician these days....
important yes, but unfortunately departing people on another front instead of celebrating a common bond...

It's been two quite busy days, but very, very exciting nonetheless; and pleasurable, too.
Stan and Sharon should have been picked up for their trip to Magdeburg by time of writing, I've brought the special guest (you can still guess, who he is  ) to the airport...
Now I can tend to my blisters and recover from the excitement. :D

My written report will follow soon; unfortunately, I was completely absorbed with guiding and explaining (not to mention taking care of my guests), so I totally forgot to take pictures.... not a single one....just brought my camera along as dead weight....

So I will have to rely on the others (the special guest especially) to provide us with photos.

For all those who had some things ordered: I've got everything well protected on my shelf, and I'm going to wrap it up for shipment this week, though neither today nor tomorrow (working the nightshift today and tomorrow does not help). I'll contact you by PM with my Paypal account and the complete bill as soon as I learn how much to add for shipment.
Should any of you want to have your shipment be sent extra fast and/or insured, please let me know.
Greetings from overseas

I was going to say Fanfan since he loves to take pictures. Does he count as a "special guest"?

You are perfectly right, Gaffey, he does love to take photos; and he's very good at it I have to say.

It was a little surprise for Stan, they haven't seen for quite a while; and it's been 4 years already since Fanfan and I met in Paris.

Time sure is flying...

We are in Magdeburg now. We met Jens yesterday, and the three of us are going sightseeing this morning. I have two presentations this afternoon, then one per day.
