Hi. I'm new here.
I saw on this site that Albedo #2 had a print run of 2000 copies, which would explain its rarity. Does anyone know the print runs for #3 and #4. For some reason, it seems like #3 pops up everywhere, though the same doesn't seem to be true for #4.
Albedo print runs?

ya know, I too have speculated on this, and I've come to this conclusion. I think that somewhere out there, there's one guy, one man who goes across our beautiful countryside and buys every single rare comic out there, from spiderman to jonny the homicidal maniac, he buys em all. Me i've stopped looking for comics to collect, this guys has driven me me to the point of watching television. Yes, yes! I know, but if I can't read my special issues there's nothing left for me to live for besides cartoons and choco tacos! I kid you not!
I'm a little cynical right now, my favorite comic store just got sold out to new management and now I have no usagi or the other good stuff. It's all stupid card games, you know what I mean vern?
We had enough of 3 and 4 in iowa for just about everyone, I dunno whys you can't find one, that's fairly odd.

3 & 4 print runs
Dear Reader,
In Albedo # 4 Mr. Gallacci says # 3 and #4 are regular print runs but gives no numbers. He does use the figure of 2000 for 1 and 2.
I agree with your observation: many 3s and few 4s.
I have an extra 3 and 4 if you are needy.
Can we get Bud Plant to back a reprint of the early Albedos?
)
Especially since Mr. Gallacci is offering a new Albedo in the near future!
I am very happy there is a new Albedo to read.
It helps balance the loss of "Bone" by Jeff Smith.
Bone is being printed in an all in one volume (1300 pages?!!!!!!!)....
Talk about bullet stoppers!
Will Usagi ever be released in one volume?
Whoah!!!!
Thank you all for the fun!
Best wishes,
go

Thanks, guys. I DO have Albedo #3 and #4, but I didn't find #4 easily. I have roughly 8 comics book stores within 20 miles of my house, but only one gives any attention to old indy titles, and Usagi isn't one of them. Fortunately, this means that if I ever do find a #2 at one of these stores, they'll have no idea what it is
I've seen four ebay auctions for Albedo #3 in the past week, and Mile High Comics has a few copies too. The only #4 I found was thrown in with an Albedo lot (which included #3, by the way). I purchased my first copy of #3 for $19.50 because I assumed it was as rare as #2, but I'm quickly learning how wrong I was.
I'd still love to know how many of these are around. I like to know how rare my rarer comics are. Anyone know print runs for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles issues, incidentally? Love to know how rare my #3 and 4 are.

According to Command Review Vol 1, which reprints the Erma stories from Albedo #1-4:
Albedo NR 1 (5-color cover) June 1984 - 500 Copies
Albedo NR 1 (4-color cover) September 1984 - 1500 copies
Albedo NR 2 November 1984 - 2000 copies
Albedo NR 3 May 1985 - 10,000 copies
Albedo NR 4 August 1985 - 6000 copies
I suspect the difference of 4000 copies between 3 and 4 explains why 4 is more scarce. That and the really cool cover on #4
I have the print runs for the early TMNT somewhere. I'll get back to you on those. I was lucky enough to hunt down every printing of every early TMNT comic in the 80's. I think way back when I paid $30 for a TMNT #1 1st print (not one of the counterfeit ones either, and yes there were counterfeits!). If my memory serves correctly #3 1st print was 10,000 or 15,000 and #4 was 20,000. There was also a variant #3 1st print with "Laird's Photo" sign on the cover in white instead of blue (or was it the other way around?). Those are very scarce. I'll let you know for sure what the exact numbers are when I can dig up the info.

In hindsight, it now occurs to me that if they lowered the print run from #3 to #4 so drastically, it almost certainly means they majorly overproduced #3, with extra copies left sitting in warehouses and "deals" cut for distributors who could take on more copies. No wonder #3 is so much easier to find.

i know what you mean the comic book store in my town doesn't spell usagi yojimbo so i subscribe for it on mile high comics. i have a old tmnt graphic novel of the both the archie comics and the first chapter of the old 80's ninja turtles. where they kill shredder and the mousers are after splinter. but some of the pages are tear out and color because i didn't know all the ninja turtles had red bandanas. but i also have issue 1 of the ld star comic's thundercats. i was going to send to hawaii to see if ted wolf would sign it but he died. it wasnt rare i guess because it was only like a few dollars. not over 10 dollars.
