AMC's THE WALKING DEAD

Post by Jet_Jaguar »

Anyone else looking forward to this new tv series? I've only read a little bit of the comic book, so I don't really have much of an opinion on whether or not this looks like a faithful adaptation of it, but it looks like it will be worth checking out.

I've read the first five hardcover volumes. This is a brutal and violent character-driven series that delivers more often than not. As a fan of the comics and zombie movies in general, I'm really hoping for this TV series to do well.

Walking Dead is definitely worth picking up! I am looking forward to the series.
Nice avatar by the way, I just finished Y: The Last Man, also a great series.

Thanks Tinlantern. Y: The Last Man was definitely a memorable series and it left an impact on me by the final issue.

I wasn't sure how it would translate and if any network but HBO could capture the grit and violence. AMC delivers ! So far its really captured the feel and atmosphere of the series. I cant wait for more, and its cool to revisit the start of the series and see how much the characters have developed from the beginning to the current issues.

I watched the pilot today. I didn't think it was bad, but also didn't find it any better/different than the plethora of zombie flicks of recent memory. I haven't read the source material, so have no opinion as it relates to that. Will give it a few more episodes to see if it will entertain me more than my current "meh."

I highly recommend picking up the first collection. This series usually wouldn't be my cup of tea but a friend insisted I give it a try and I was quickly hooked.
You are correct that it starts out as your run of the mill zombie apocalypse yarn but it quickly becomes much more. It examines how humanity evolves or devolves in such extreme survival situations. It follows a group of people as they try to survive and start over . Unlike other zombie tales that cover a couple days or weeks this series covers several months and I believe is coming up on a year. It becomes more about the individual characters and how they process the horror that has become common place. The series definitely has some stomach turning moments, not just gore but the loss of several well developed characters. Its been a roller coaster ride right up to the current issue, and I'm still hooked.

I loved the first episode. I have been a faitful fan since I picked up the first issue the day it came out. I'm a huge horror nut and love me some good zombie gore and I think that the zombies looked the best out of any zombie I have seen on screen. I look forward to ( hopefully ) a long tv run for this series.

I thought the first episode was amazing.

The most intense scene was in the stairwell where nothing even happened! I like that they are bringing some new stuff to the series and retaining the same attention to character from the comics.

I am excited to see the direction they go from here. And happy to see Glenn!!
