Just a pity the franking machine had to go over the stamp itself...

Oh, so the stamp is a custom-made thing and not a "real" French postage stamp? I should have guessed that (of course, stranger things have probably gone on postage stamps). Still, I found the idea of a "real" UY postage stamp to be irresistibly cool, so I wanted very badly to believe in it (another reason why I didn't guess it is probably because I've never used any kind of custom "make your own stamp" thing).

Thanks for sending me one as well Fanfan!Fanfan wrote:Haha, it arrives really quickly since i posted it this monday !
It was a surprise we prepared with Stan. The illustration is a part of the upcoming TPB cover. Thomas is the first to have received one. The stamp has been made by the My-Very-Own-Stamp as noted by Steve. I needed Stan's agreement to print it (you won't be able to print it by yourself). It is actually a 30 pieces run, but i will have to reprint some more, it could be a prize for an upcoming dojo contest, a french Usagi postacard + the french Usagi Stamp.

... and indeed I did receive it!
But due to a serious system failure of my computer at home I was unable to brag about it or post a scan yet. This is really cool, but I'm not going to become a philatelist over it... although, if there should be something like a UY stamp series available...
Anyway, thank you again for that card and stamp, Fanfan.
The photo used for the card is your own, isn't it?! A good one, too.

Some new stuff, mostly from the 2010 Motor City Comic Con....

A new sketch inside my Panel 2 Panel edition of Bridge of Tears along side the exclusive tip-in plate.

Finally added a S/N Limited Edition Hardcover copy of Space Usagi to my collection. #15 AP

Just got to love Stan's sense of humour!

spent most of saturday and sunday at the convention helping my nephew Jacob collect sketches in his book and almost forgot (again) to ask for a sketch for myself. Stan drew this for me during the last half hour or so that we were at the convention.

This is the sketch that Stan drew in my copy of the 20th Anniversary Art of Usagi Yojimbo book at the Ann Arbor District Library back on April 17th. At that time, I forgot to mention to Stan that it was my birthday, so I asked him at the convention if he could add a dedication to the sketch.

Re: The Gallery of Usagigoya
Woo hoo! I finally have some new stuff to post here....
While looking through Stan's portfolio of art at the Gem City Comic Con on Saturday, I saw this piece and really liked it since it is one of the sketches Stan drew while he was in Japan....

And this one! The Heroes Initiative Live Auction was scheduled at the same time as the Spotlight on Stan Sakai presentation, but lucky for me, it was in the room next door and it lasted longer than Stan's presentation. Great piece of art with the money going to a great cause....

I also took a bunch of Usagi Yojimbo books along, some of which aquired cool new sketches from Stan
Usagi Yojimbo: Tome 1 (Ronin)
Large sized edition of Usagi Yojimbo translated into French, Published by Paquet Editions in France
Usagi Yojimbo: Sjene smrti (Zec Samuraj: knjiga osam)
Hardcover edition of Usagi Yojimbo translated into Croatian, Published by Bookglobe in Croatia
Usagi Yojimbo: Grasscutter part 1
and Usagi Yojimbo: Grasscutter part 2
Edition of Usagi Yojimbo Grasscutter translated into Italian and released in two parts, Published by Bottero Edizioni in Italy
Usagi Yojimbo: Traitors of the Earth (Dark Horse)
I actually bought this book pre-signed from Heritage Source last summer and brought it along as reading material for the trip.
Usagi Yojimbo: Seasons (ltd ed s/n hc - Dark Horse)
Only English language edition of Usagi Yojimbo I had Stan Sakai sign and sketch in while at the Gem City Comic Con
Usagi Yojimbo: Bayang-Bayang Kematian
Edition of Usagi Yojimbo translated into Indonesian, Published by Gramedia Pustaka Utama in Indonesia
Usagi Yojimbo: O Limiar da Vida e da Morte
Edition of Usagi Yojimbo translated into Portuguese, Published by Devir Livraria in Brazil
And here is the book tote which they were all packed into....

I'm glad you got the Tokyo piece. That was one of my favorites in Stan's portfolio.
I also like the sketched bag.
