Maverick is a now-defunct imprint published by Dark Horse Comics, created in 1999 by editor Diana Schutz for creator-owned works, to "provid[e] a home for creator-owned properties -- providing a certain identity to those creator-owned labors of love that distinguishes them from Dark Horse's licensed books"
Adam Gallardo interviews Diana Schutz on the Maverick line of comics from Dark Horse
In 2000 and 2001, Dark Horse Maverick published a pair of annuals, anthologies which contained short stories by a variety of the creators then publishing through Dark Horse. Stan Sakai contributed to both of them.
DARK HORSE MAVERICK 2000
issue: 1 - Jul/2000 (b/w comic, 48 pgs, annual)
"Norway" (featuring Stan Sakai) - 2 pages
Stan Sakai provides a tour diary of a trip to Norway with Sergio Aragones.
DARK HORSE MAVERICK 2001
issue: 1 - Jul/2001 (b/w comic, 48 pgs, annual)
"Usagi and the Kami of the Pond" (featuring “Young” Usagi) - 6 pages
Only Usagi Yojimbo short story not reprinted or collected in any of the books.
Actually, the MySpace Dark Horse Presents short story "Saya" has not been collected in a UY book either.

I just ran your post through the google translater.
Even though I have a lot of the Usagi Yojimbo material which was translated into German, I still do not understand the language. I guess I am stuck being mono-linguistic.
I use the google translater a lot when poking around on the German Comicforum (Hauptforum) as well as other places where people discuss Usagi Yojimbo in other languages.

well, that's intereting..I've never thaught anyone would go through 'the effort'
of letting the computer programm translate so muc text just to know what's going on about a subject special to one's heart;)....
(I guess it isn't that exhausting as the sentence lets it sound but in today's world where people tend to be lazy with computers doing the hardest part of nearly everything very often you never know-...
hey-merry christmas to everybody!!!!!
in germany people traditionally exchange their presents on the evening of december 24th, which is called 'heiligabend' (holy night) so kids everywhere sport huge grins today!!;)
