Pic from a noob. Usagi and Gen in Pen and Ink by Matahachi

Post by matahachi »

Here's a pic I did of Usagi and Gen sparring. I was testing some new pens and decided to draw my favourite rabbit bodyguard. I used a photo reference for the bodies, but the heads are mine. Thanks to Stan for the inspiration :)

I hope you guys like it.

Thanks, I'm really pleased you like it. I don't have any other Usagi Yojimbo pics atm although I do have a couple of Japanese/samurai ones. Is it ok to post those here? And if so, should I start a new thread or use this one?

Post away! I know I, at least, would enjoy seeing more of your samurai related artwork.

It is up to you if you want to post them in this thread or start a new one in either the All things Japan or Ronin Ramblings forums. Personally, I would just continue in this thread, but you would know best if they would fit better under a differant topic heading.

Abayo,
Steve

Thanks, I'll post them here then rather than clutter the place with new threads. If someone thinks I should move them later I will.

First is a ronin.

And a sketch for a an as yet uncompleted pic

All except the last used photo references.

I hope you like them :)

Definitely some cool drawings! I really like the drawing of the Ronin.

By the way, Welcome to the Usagi Yojimbo Dojo Forum!

(So distracted by the cool art, I forgot to be polite)

Thank you both very much! You're very kind :) I forgot to say that the ronin was inked using the Manga Studio drawing program rather than ink which is why it looks a bit different to the others.

Thanks for the welcome Steve. I'm still reading up on the rest of the forum which is why I haven't posted elsewhere., but I hope to be active here even if I'm a relative newcomer to Usagi Yojimbo.

welcome!I like the perspective in the ronin drawing, looking up here seems to symbolize the adventurous path and tasks up ahead of him...
