CBLDF trading cards

Post by Stan Sakai »

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund will be coming out with a trading card set this summer, and I've agreed to do 10 original sketch cards. In addition, a few other creators will be allowed to do original sketches of my characters, and I can draw some of theirs.

Here is a link to Heidi's site, and you can link on to others from there:

I want to do a Savage Dragon sketch and the Goon.

Awesome!

As was the link to comic book creators trading cards from the 90s: http://www.comicsalliance.com/2010/06/0 ... card-past/

But that set isn't complete with out a Mr. Stan Sakai card. :)

Peace, maka

A few Usagi cards have been posted.

I don't know any of these artists, but maybe someone else does.

Oh no! I did not know they were already listed in Previews for ordering!

Oh well, so much for me pre-ordering a set, dead-line was May 26th!

EDIT: I called my local comic shop and asked if they could still add it to their May order for me - they said no problem. They were not posative they could get it, but they seemed pretty confident. :D

Will there be an easy way for people outside of the US to get the set? I presume ordering the set nets all the cards Stan has done, and all the Usagi themed ones too?
Chris Giarrusso
Kris and I have met him a few times at SDCC, although we know his brother more. Nice guy :D

I don't know if they are going to be offering complete sets, they are currently only being offered as packs at $3.49 retail, or boxes of 24 packs.

From the description, it sounds like the chances of getting any of the cards drawn by Stan, or of Usagi drawn by other artists, will be pretty slim since they are "original" sketch cards produced in addition to the regular 72 card set.

But it is for a great cause!

The artist sketch cards will be randomly inserted in packs, so it is very unlikely you will get a card of an artist of your choice.

I'm doing 10 cards. In addition of 3 Usagi cards, I have drawn Gen, Rat Creature, Fish (from Fish n Chips), Bean (from Bean World), Grendel, Savage Dragon, and Dark Horse's Ghost. I'll probably post pics on my FB page when I send them off.

Ah okay, it's just when you said "pre-ordering a set" above, I was wondering what you meant...

Guess it'll be a job of seeing if any of them turn up in the usual places...

I wonder how much longer before these go on sale?

I was hoping to see your take on Eric Powell's Goon character, but seeing Grendal and The Ghost will be cool as well.
