KatsuCon--what to bring
I know at least one person from the Dojo will be there, so I'm starting this thread.
What would you--anyone--want me to bring. As you may know, I do not usually bring a lot to these events--just sketchbooks, copies of the first 4 volumes, and some art. Let me know if you want anything beyond that--specific art, a hardcover or trade paperback, etc.
I will also bring some of the postcard-size French prints from my recent signing in Pau. These will be exclusively given away to Dojo members, but you will have to ask for them beforehand so I can reserve one for you.

Hi Stan,
I would like one of the prints from Pau. Other than that, is it ok if I bring my copy of Yokai for you to sign?
As for art, I am always keen to see Usagi and Spot together, but I don't know of anything specific, so I will just enjoy seeing the art that you bring.
Come to think of it, I have been looking for a Space Usagi Hardcover for a while. If you have any of those, I would love it if you could bring one to the convention.

I have a request for anyone who might still be planning on attending Katsu Con next weekend.
Any chance someone might be able to pick up an extra program book at the Katsu Con for me?
I can reimburse you for the expense of the item and the costs of postage to mail it to me here in Michigan.
Your assistance would really be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

I am really sorry, guys, but I was unable to get programs. I got to the convention at about 11am. After waiting on the ticket line for 4 hours, I got my ticket and was able to get in. By then, they were completely out of programs.
I am thinking of going back tomorrow to check out the charity auction. If I do, I will keep an eye out in case they have restocked on programs, and I'll let you know if we catch a lucky break.
It was a good time, but wow! My limited experience of comic conventions did not prepare me at all for the sheer numbers of attendees!
Also, Stan, thanks for being so nice to my tagalong friend Nobu. I've been introducing him to various aspects of American culture during his stay in the U.S., and comics have been a great point of commonality. He was very excited to meet an American artist of such skill and stature.

As you say, it was a good time. Never seen a line like that at a comic convention (not that I've been to very many, just a couple), but I guess the anime con really draws a different crowd in.
although I always enjoy talking to various artists, and learning what their stories are about, the real pleasure of the con for me was seeing Stan's recent watercolors. So much so that my wife even tagged along with me today to have a look - Fortunately, the registration line today was like nothing, and she got her entry pass in about 10 minutes.

Katsucon program book
Dojo Members;
UPDATE: all the program books have been spoken for.
I was able to snaffle a few Katsucon Program Guides and have them autographed by Stan Sakai.
Here's the only RULE: Please send me a pm, NOT a post on the discussion board, and I will respond.

Awesome! I am so glad someone got there in time to get a few of these. I felt really bad when I couldn't snag even a few for our fellow Usagi enthusiasts!Shadowfax wrote:Dojo Members;

I am looking into publishing two sketchbooks this year--the usual black and white one, and a full color water color sketchbook. Jim, who was at KatsuCon with me may do the production and coordination on the color book. I never considered doing a water color book, but I have been receiving a lot of positive responses regarding my new color work.PJaensch wrote:

Two votes from me for one of each!
