San Diego Comic-con--what to bring

Post by Stan Sakai »

It's about a month before Comic-con. I realize that many regular con-goers will not be attending this year. However, for those of you who are going, is there anything in particular you would like me to bring--a specific hardcover, print, original art, UY toy, etc. I don't think I will have time to do commissions before the con, but you could ask.

I have been told that the UY Book 26 trades will be out, but have not been given a reply about the hard cover. I will let you know when I find out.

You can either post your wants here or send me a PM.

Someone has kindly agreed to pick up items for me, so I was going to ask about this year's hardcover. Will there be any new prints at the show this year?

I won't have any new prints this year. I believe the Sketchbook and UY Book 26 are the only new items I will have. Dark Horse will probably have some kind of signature card, but I don't know yet if it is for 47 Ronin or the new UY trade.

I have been told that, yes, the Book 26 hardcover will also be out in time for Comic-con, so I hope to have copies at my booth.

Please save a Book 26 hardcover and a sketchbook for me.

I've reviewed my art collection and I believe I need a Mariko. Perhaps doing some calligraphy or reading a scroll.

Best,

If it looks like you will run out of the hardcover # 26 and the new sketchbook by Thursday of Comic Con, please hold one of each for me. :D -- Thanks

I received my copies of the new UY trade paperback and hardcovers, so will definitely have them at Comic-con.

Stan,
i PM'd you the details for the Usagi/Leo piece. i totally love and respect your sense of art, so if while working on it, you think of anything else to add or slightly mod that will improve on the overall piece, please feel free to do so.

My pleasure to help pick this stuff up for everyone. Probably just a sketchbook and our discussed original for me. I ordered a new HC via my LCS, although I am tempted to get an AP copy directly from you. See you in a purple of weeks!

Remember--I can use dollar bills, especially towards the end of the convention.

Thanks for the reminder.

I was wondering why I'm breaking all my twenties...

Hi Stan,
We met while we sat in the airport waiting to go to Prague. You made me a sketch of the ronin rabbit. I recently went to the Japanese American National Museum in LA where I bought your book, THE ART OF USAGI YOJIMBO. they told me you had exhibited there. Welcome to San Diego. Myra

Hello Sakai-san, I don't know if you'll see this since SDCC is going on right now, but what the heck! I went to a local comic book store here in San Antonio and asked them to pre-order the HC of book 26, but apparently their reseller is telling them it's out of stock and not backorder-able. Turns out, the guy who runs the shop is at SDCC right now and might be stopping by your table to grab a copy for me. So if you meet someone named Bob from San Antonio who runs a shop called Dragon's Lair, he might be buying it for me! I asked him to say, "Hi!" on my behalf.
