Dark Horse Reprints

Post by Mormegil »

There are quite a few Usagi TPB volumes that are out of print. I've been looking all over to try and find out when and if dark horse will be reprinting these.

anyone have any news?

Dark Horse deliberately let individual books fall out of print in anticipation of omnibus trade collections which will collect three trade paperbacks in one volume. I will have some individual books at San Diego, but this may be the last year that I will have them, at least for awhile.

Meanwhile, Fantagraphics Books will still have the individual books available, with no plans to reprint the two volume set of the complete FB Usagi stories.

Thank you for the quick response. I'm late to the game as I only found Usagi Yojimbo last year. I have most of them. I am missing 8 or 9 of the dark horse books.

I guess i'll have to wait patiently. The secondary market charges pretty high prices for new copies of the volumes.

Is there a release schedule yet for the Dark Horse omnibus'?

Right now, we are looking at either November or December. I still don't know if it will be hardcover and/or paperback.

Correction: The first book will be out in October. It will be 600 pages. I still don't know about the format.

The omnibus is going to be called The Usagi Yojimbo Saga: Book 1, and you can read more info on it at http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/05/08/ ... w-omnibus/

Hey, is this going to have everything from the standard trades, including the annotations from the second versions of those trades?

Stan, is your profit higher with the limited HC, or more a fan project?

And all the best to you and family

My percentage of royalties remain the same, but with a higher priced book the more dollars I (and Dark Horse) will receive. The larger size and the HC is something I really wanted. The book distributor (not Diamond) wanted it to be released only as a 6X9 trade paperback. The limited edition HC is a compromise DH came up with. There will be only 900 HCs, and I don't know what they will be priced at.

Thank you,
I normally don't go for the fancy stuff, but I will try for the HC then.

Only 900 HCs? Will there be an opportunity to pre-order online anywhere?

I have the Fantagraphics collection from a couple of years ago and this sounds like a perfect companion.

Now if we could only get a black and white hardcover reprinting of the Mirage run in the same format...

Waitaminnit...

Vol. 2 #1–#16 is the Mirage run, right?!
