Frank & Son Sakai Project Signing Book Plates

Post by Steve Hubbell »

A couple messages exchanged between David Krisor and the Usagi Yojimbo Dojo Facebook page (aka myself) regarding ordering of book plates from the Frank & Son book signing last week. I will try and add an email address for David as soon as possible.

Hey I had a benefit for Stan Sakai at Frank and Sons Collectible show. I made and designed the Bookplate sold at the event. 60+ out of the 150 have been sold. They are $15 eachfor the bookplate and fit perfectly with the Stan Sakai Art Project Book. They are signed by 16 of the artist that contributed to the books. You can order them directly through me.
Thanks.

I just sent Stan a message saying how much i like the design of the border on these and how it incorporates Usagi's Mon design into the corners.

Can you provide some ordering details?

And I take it the person selling these on ebay for $45 each is NOT you?

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks. It came out well for the time I had, I found out there would not be books at the the signing on thursday night so I had to make the bookplate on the fly. Yes it is me there are some operating costs such as printing the bookplate, advertising and materials fees and ebay/paypal(18% of the purchase price) fees that are in the price on ebay. All the money from the show was given to Stan. And I had planned to recoup the operating costs via ebay so I could give more to Stan there. Plus I will be able to sell them for a higher amount giving Stan more for each one sold on ebay. If you would like a bookplate or anyone else would like one I can take payment via paypal or USPS money order for $15 the same price at the show.. I can also get the book for a flat $30 including tax from a dealer friend if anyone is interested. Although I would have to know soon as it seems like the book might sell out very soon as there were a total of 5,500 copies printed and 2,000 sold at SDCC. I can ship the book with the bookplate to domestic address for $4. There are approx 60 bookplates left with me and Tone Rodriguez is taking an additional 20 to a con.

Great news Steve. Hopes this works out for people after the bookplate.

Awesome!

First off, I reposted this message exchange on the Dojo Forum where some members had already commented on wanting to get book plates if possible.

http://www.usagiyojimbo.com/forum3/view ... f=2&t=7053

Do you have an email address where you can be contacted for orders for those who dislike venturing onto Facebook?

Also, if you want to check into international postage charges, Usagi is translated into a dozen languages and has fans in quite a few more.

I really hope they give the book a second printing if it does sell out.

It is definitely a worthy cause

They can contact me via kittyncharlie@gmail.com or through text message and I will work out the logistics of sending the bookplate out.. I can not see the message exchange. Do I need to be a member of the board? I would think they would re-print it if it sells out this fast.

Cheers Steve, I shall see about ordering... if ANYONE who I was buying for from SDCC would like the bookplate, PM me and I can see about ordering multiples of it at the same time.

I've had a reply back, the bookplates are indeed $15 each, and I have a shipping cost, which I'm waiting to find out will be the same regardless of how many I order. So to reiterate, if you are in Europe and would like one of these bookplates. let me know BY SUNDAY, and I'll do them all together.

Okay, but make it quick if possible, I was looking to confirm an order with them either tomorrow or Monday... don't want to keep him hanging around waiting.

Send them an email at kittyncharlie@gmail.com and inquire if they have any left. They recently relisted one on ebay, so there is a chance you can still get one straight from them still.

And mention you are on the Usagi Dojo, as they generally were NOT letting anyone else order via email from them for the base price ($15).
