Awesome! Great prices! It would be cool to have a signed Sakai Project (I haven't got this book yet) and its also signed by Katie Cook (she does My Little Pony comics!)

$13.79!! Even though I already have this book I should have bid for Sergio's signature alone. I doubt he'll ever be back to an East Coast convention.

Dang! There were two of them for sale and I bid on one a few hours ago and ended up winning it for $21.51. Looks like I should have bid on the other one instead and saved myself 8 bucks!!! :D

But, even still, $21 dollars for this great book that I had yet to pick up, with all the signatures, cannot beat that with a stick (bokkan!).

Very excited to have won it and finally own a copy.

Thanks Gaffey for the heads-up!!!

I haven't seen a comicmonster auction in quite a while. Can't really say I'm sorry to see that convention sketch scalper apparently lose money on a couple of his auctions.

Did not know about them/him. What is the history with him/them?

Short story - They would go around getting free sketches from artists and then immediately try to flip them on eBay for profit. I don't see anything wrong with them selling these books since they actually paid for the books and stood in line like everyone else.

They were one of the people that used to get free sketches at conventions from artist and then immediately post them up on eBay for profit. There was a discussion on this board about the ethics of that. Stan eventually stop giving free sketches out at conventions. But the last few of years, Stan has returned to doing quick sketch for you if you provide a donation to Japanese-American National Museum at this convention tables.

I did see someone at the LBCE last year who had maybe 10 Sakai Projects being signed and sketched in by Katie Cook.

Whenever I am fortunate to make a convention, I like looking at the guest list and artist alley to see if I can collect more signatures for my copy of the Sakai Project. It gives me another quest to do at conventions that is fun. And it is fun to talk to the arts on why they wanted to participate.

Peace, maka

I've met a bunch of great artists through getting my book signed, and have even bought some original art or commissioned some pieces from a few of them (Jonathan Marks, Wil Panganiban, Megan Hutchison, Megan Levens, Katie Cook, Travis Hanson). I think I'm currently at about 67 signatures, give or take a couple.

I thought about bidding on one of the 2, but in the end I didn't, mostly because of the 60$ shipping and because I would have had to ship it to my best friend's place in germany.
Congrats to BuckRogers for getting one.

Ouch! $60 bucks for shipping overseas. That hurts. And I thought the $10 bucks was bad for Stateside shipping charges.

Other than Jeremy Dale, who passed away last year, do you think it's possible to get a signature from every contributor? I'd guess Jack Davis would be close to impossible. I don't remember Stan's personal copy having Jack's signature. Maybe it did.

Given enough time and money (to travel the globe, as there were numerous international contributors), I'd say it's possible, but not likely. Jack Davis is probably difficult, and I'd guess Matt Groening would be tough to get too. I was fortunate to meet Jeremy before he passed away and he kindly signed my book. So far I've only skipped on getting one signature, as it was $15 or so to get a signature from the artist and for me isn't worth the money just to get something signed. I'm lucky to live in Southern California, so a lot of artists attend events like San Diego Comic Con, Anaheim Comic Con, Stan Lee's Comikaze, and a couple other local conventions. I could probably get more signatures if I attended New York Comic Con to catch the people who mostly stay on the east coast, but I'm only slightly crazy and haven't been compelled to make the trip over there, seeing as how I get my fill of conventions from nearby.

I read somewhere that Neal Adams charges $30 to sign a book. Thankfully, not everyone has fee. That would make The Sakai Project one pricey book.

You are definitely spoiled when it comes to cons.
