I had it pre-ordered from Amazon, but this is about $30 cheaper so I canceled my Amazon order.

jabba359 wrote:Now shipping! I got mine from Instocktrades.com for $72.50. Pretty good price if you ask me.

They're also currently running a sale on select Artist Editions, including Jeff Smith's Bone: The Great Cow Race, which is 50% off.
THAT'S what that shipping notification is about! I received a shipping email yesterday but had no idea what it was!

You know that you are ordering too many things when you get an email about somehting shipping and you have no recall of what you ordered, although it has been awhile since I ordered it!

Really excited to get it!

Ouch, I just noticed that I was charged for shipping through DCBS. I should have waited to purchase it through InStockTrades (free shipping). I basically ended up paying $11 more through the same company by preordering it.

Oh Yeah! :D

Picked mine up from the local comic book shop yesterday, and I must say...

...this is going to be tough to carry around at conventions!

But seriously folks - this is an awesome book. To quote Usagi-chan completely out of context - INCONCIEVABLE!
This book is not only big, but thick. And heavy!
And did I mention the artwork... it's so... so.... clean and neat!
Love it Stan!
Can't wait for volume 2!

Mine showed up last week, but I haven't had the time to open it up until now. First off, I thought it was pretty awesome that this book was shipped to me in a 28"x24"x6" box. It was huge! The book itself is big as well, but as an owner of a few of IDW's Artist Editions, I knew what to expect. The Usagi Gallery Edition, though, is substantially thicker (about 50%) than the Artist Editions I have, due to the greater page count.

Regarding the book itself, it's a whole new experience reading Usagi in such a large format; almost like seeing a movie in the theater instead of on the TV. The art is beautiful and I gained a new appreciation for Stan's clean work. Since I'm not one of the privileged few that gets to read the original art boards, this is the next best thing. I'm looking forward to seeing what stories we get with Volume 2.

Crop from one of my favorite parts, where the Tokage are chewing away on the dead guys. I don't recall noticing them eating the dead before, but maybe I just forgot about it. (image color balanced white by me, though the page in the book is yellowed as seen in the Gallery Edition interior comparison picture above)

Wow, that is great packaging!

I just ordered the Bone Artist's Edition and was worried how it might be shipped. If this is any indication, I have nothing to worry about.

I've ordered from instocktrades many times and, while this box was proportionately larger than normal, they always pack super secure. Most packages from them use the expanding foam packs so that nothing can slide around and often the form-fitting foam completely surrounds the books inside, creating a very safe security layer. I don't think I've ever received such consistently good packing from any other online seller as I have from instocktrades.

The pictures the trade paperback against all of the various books and packaging is such a great comparison of size. Nicely done! Enjoy the book! Peace, maka

My book just arrived! I haven't opened it yet, but the box is HUMONGOUS! Really looking forward to a thorough read-through later. This is exactly the kind of stuff I love - there's nothing better than process stuff!

Stan, was it difficult to locate all of the art to be scanned, or did you have most of it on hand?

I have all my original story pages, except two. They are filed, each story bagged individually, in those large FedEx boxes. Each box can hold one trade collection worth of originals, so I have the boxes labeled with the titles of the books. The only page I did not have was the very first UY page from Goblin of Adachigahara. It is in an art show, so is the only page not scanned from the original art for the Gallery Edition.

What a great trivia question:

"What are the only two original published pages of Usagi Yojimbo artwork which Stan Sakai no longer owns? We are talking Usagi Yojimbo story pages, not pin-ups, covers, or cross-overs, etc....

Bonus points for including the current owners' names and how they achieved the impossible score.
