Just wondering since I'd like to know before I buy any more of the individual volumes. I got 1 and 2 before realizing there was an omnibus of the Fantagraphics run...

Question about the Fantagraphics Omnibus collection
Pardon the odd question, but does anyone have personal photos of the Fanta Omnibus books? It's a bit hard for me to tell from the website store photo whether they're two books or one and about how big they're supposed to be.

Re: Question about the Fantagraphics Omnibus collection
Dear Chop,
The Fantagraphics Usagi Omnibus is composed of two volumes that come in an attractive slipcase. There are two versions: A hardcover version ( which is out of print but you can buy it on ebay for around $600) and a Softcover version which you can buy for around $55. The hardcover edition is slightly bigger than the hardcover Dark Horse Saga Editions. I don't have the softcover editions but I did buy one as a gift and if I remember correctly the softcover edition was about the same size as the Saga softcovers.
Here are some pics I found on the internet that will hopefully help:

Re: Question about the Fantagraphics Omnibus collection
Softcover dimensions listed on Amazon are very close to those of the hardcover, within fractions of an inch. As Spam noted, it is two books. I like the paper quality in my hardcover edition much more than the usual trade paperback paper, but I'm not certain if the softcover of the special edition uses the same paper. For the price, you should pick up the special edition, as it's cheaper than picking up the remaining individual trades and gives you significantly larger pages, and therefore larger reproductions of the art.

Re: Question about the Fantagraphics Omnibus collection
Understood, thanks folks! Shame the hardcover's out of my price range but I only ever want hardcovers for the added durability and I think the holding case should be protection enough. I'll go with the softcovers!

Re: Question about the Fantagraphics Omnibus collection
The softcovers are great quality books as well. The stories are printed on nice paper and the books hold up pretty well.
