RIP Cynlee
A few of you knew Cynthia Fluharty, who went by Cynlee on this and the TMNT forums. She had been diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, and I heard she passed away this morning. She lived in South Pasadena, fairly close to me, so we got to know each other. She was an elementary school teacher and I spoke to her class once. She was a lovely lady.
My favorite memory of her was at a San Diego Con. Fantagraphics UY #17 had come out the month before (this was the penultimate chapter of Dragon Bellow Conspiracy). I had hinted that Zato-Ino had been killed in that issue. Issue 18 came out during the con, and I had copies at my table. She bought one, flipped through it, and said, "Oh, Ino is still alive. I'm so glad." As soon as the con opened the next day, she stormed to my table, and yelled, "You BASTARD! You killed Spot!"
Such a lovely lady.

Sad news!!
I have never had the pleasure of meeting Cynlee in person, but have considered her a friend from this forum, as well as through Facebook. She has been on my Dojo Christmas card mailing list from the start. I will miss her posts on Facebook!

Re: RIP Cynlee
Well that's a real sad way to start the weekend
I must admit, I didn't know she had cancer. One of the things I guess about not personally being on Facebook. As someone else who was into Usagi and TMNT, we got on really well whenever we saw each other at San Diego. She will be missed.

That is sad news. I have always loved that story about the fan who said "You BASTARD, you killed Spot!" Knowing that was Cynlee makes it a better story.
Thank you for letting us know, Stan. It is strange, yet wonderful, that an on-line community is just as real as one we physically live in. Rest in peace, Cynlee.

Re: RIP Cynlee
hello friends,
oh je..;(..I never knew cynthia was ill at all.I ll keep her and her loved ones in my prayers these days.
she is one of the people from the dojo whose name my head instantly memorized.she was also very lovely and got me a copy of the turtles idw ashcan book from san diego comic con 2011 before that series started:)....I grew to dispize that series and these peoples take on the turtles but cynthias generosity and kindness always stayed with me somehow.
so sad to learn of this...don't really know what to say...I feel like she was one of the sweetest people in this bunch of all sweet people here;)
maybe to see death more as a door and the start of another chapter in ones life and not as an end to this chapter is an important thought to ponder now.
may you have a beautiful journey!

Re: RIP Cynlee
So sad. I just came here to post about Darwyn Cooke passing away and saw this. If I remember correctly she was in a couple of the DojoBoard group photos. I hadn't seen her on the board in a while.
