Usagi and Tomoe only remember the encounter from story #1. They don't remember they first met in story #2!

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Tournament (Dark Horse Presents Annual 1999) - As children, Usagi bumps into Tomoe and they talk, argue, challenge, and duel. Tomoe wins.

Lone Rabbit and Child (Albedo 3) - Tomoe attacks a resting Usagi, thinking he is trying to harm Noriyuki. Tomoe ask for forgiveness and then introduces her self to Usagi before they are interrupted by bounty hunters. Fun fact, Usagi doesn't official introduce himself to Tomoe or Noriyuki. He introduces himself to the bounty hunters.

Lone Rabbit and Child! Tomoe thinks Usagi may be out to harm Lord Noriuki and attacks him while he is meditating.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Tournament. Usagi and Tomoe actually run into each other.

The answer I was hoping to get was:
"Lone Rabbit and Child" was Usagi and Tomoe's first published encounter with each other.
"A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Tournament" was their first chronological meeting with each other.

I just happened to be reading UY #146 yesterday and saw the reference to 'A funny thing happened on the way to the tournament' in the letters page. I didn't chance it because I hadn't read the details of the story, and more importantly, I was way too late!

(And just a day after, Saga #3 drops through my letterbox, and there it is! Blimey.)
