Usagi figures update

Post by Stan Sakai »

I received proto types of the metal Usagi figures yesterday. The first five will be offered for sale soon.

They are not exactly like my drawings but they are pretty darn neat. The variances from the drawings are mainly due to my lack of knowledge about the spin metal procedure. They had to adjust the positions slightly.

The first five are: Usagi; Gen; Katsuichi; Jei; and a scared peasant. I you order all five before a certain date, a 6th figure will be given free--Kitsune. The molds for the Kitsune figure will be destroyed later on to be replaced by another Kitsune in a different pose.

The figures will be about $5 each.

I'll post more details as the Dark Ages and I sort them out.

Cool!

Will there be a colored version, too? (My guess is that $5 is not enough to color them ;-)

Any Spin Metal "Tom Luth" out there?

Now I have to figure out how to use the figs in a D&D game I run. If I remember right, someone proposed a figure painting contest. I don't have the skill to enter, but I'd like to see what some folks can do.

Pretty darn cool...

It kinda makes me think of what the UY characters would look like if Jim Henson's Creature Shop made animatronics of them or something.

I'm a bit confused... Are the figures available now, or will they be available in March? If I want to mail order all of the figures, do I include $5.00 S/H for EACH figure? Do I need to include S/H for the Kitsune figure as well?

The figures are available now.

They will be solicited in the March issue of Previews but by then the free Kitsune figure will be unavailable. It's a perk for Dojo members and others who order them from the manufacturer now. The figures are scaled so that the figures are all in proportion. However, the Kitsune figure was mistakenly scuplted smaller than it should be. Rather than just toss it out, Dark Ages came up with this idea of giving one away free with each set. There will be another Kitsune figure later that will be scaled correctly, though it will be posed differently.

I e-mailed the manufacturer and he said shipping is a flat $5 per order--even if you order a single figure or a hundred sets.

UYM-005 SCARED PEASANT sculpted by Steve Lortz $5.00

Um, I hope that's supposed to be a CLOUD coming from underneath that scared peasant.

(Yes. I'm evil-minded. I'm sorry)

Actually, that's a bush behind the figure. This was a figure that I did not design, but the sculptor took the image from a panel of the comic book. It looked really good so we opted to make it part of the set.

I thought it might be something like that (but you never could tell just HOW much scared he really was).

As for the LE Kitsune, I think i know which pic was used. All it needed was an itty-bitty beigoma at the end of ther sword.

I rememeber how Ral Partha treated Wendy Pini's designs for the ElfQuest series way back. Actually won a couple of contests with my painted figures (Heck, even Wendy herself was impressed). Haven't painted figures since that time though. Wonder if Polly S still makes miniatures paints?

There's no order form. Just write out clearly what you want to order and send it in with a check. Make sure add S/H charge.
