I think I just counted 8 figures on eBay. Do you know the original price?
$30 is what these are selling for!!!
I would buy two at that price!
Which begs the question, why so cheap and so limited? Supply will not meet demand and in at least the 8 cases mentioned above these people don't care about the item as they are listing it on eBay as soon as they get back to their hotel room. If Wal-Mart is selling the horse and samurai Usagi set for $18-$20 in mass quantities then wouldn't it make sense for Playmate toys to sell this at a much higher price at SDCC or at least produce twice as many at this current price? Plus, the basic Usagi figure from Target which is impossible for me to find is selling for 3 to 4 times it's retail price of $8.99.
I wonder how they measure potential interest in a product like this. Every message board and social media post I have seen has been exploding with frustration and talk about how impossible it will be to get one for the regular fans that can't attend.
I would love to hear how they come to the final number of units to produce. The Instagram post yesterday where TMNT/Nickelodeon is giving away one figure already has almost 1,000 entries. At this pace there are likely going to be 1,000 or more disappointed fans after SDCC is over
I still have my fingers crossed somebody on here gets one! Kyle obviously is the most deserving after all he has done for each of us at SDCC.

Yeah. I'll even go so far as to suggest, if Kyle can't get one for himself we chip in and buy him one (despite what I just said in my previous post). If anyone here deserves one Kyle does.

Yeah, it's frustrating waiting in line for so long and seeing people with 3 or 4 of the figures (I think it was limited to one per person). I have no clue how all these people get to the booth so fast, as I was pretty close to the front of the main line to get into the convention hall and speed walked to the Nick booth, where the line was massive already. I'm sure quite a few got in early with vendor passes, but maybe there's another way to get in before the main line?

The convention hall doesn't open today for two more hours and already there are so many people that there's no way I'm getting a figure today. I'm definitely not a fan of these crazy limited items that attract droves of flippers. Nick should have made 3-4x as many. At this price, they would have sold.

I appreciate the sentiment, but no need. While I'd love to have a figure, it isn't something I necessarily have to have. Sure, a figure would be a nice addition, but not worth giving the scalpers any money.

Well then, we can find another way to compensate you.

I bet a lot of the people queueing at the start are people working on the other stands and thus already in the convention hall. It's rather against the rules, more precisely you can't be at the stand waiting when the doors open, but obviously if you're already inside, it's a lot quicker to power dash at the start and beat the rush.

Exactly. Today was another failed attempt to get the figure.

If you asked for a print (non-Mondo), I got all those. I'll keep checking back periodically on the Mondo line to see if they've opened it back up. I peeked in the booth and they still had a pile of Usagi prints left.

Bleeding Cool News just reported that the rumor is that a couple people have gotten $1,000 for the Usagi figure while on the convention floor.
If that is the case I can't blame anybody for flipping these figures. For $1,000 I would also. I could buy some great Usagi stuff with that money!
They said it is the hottest exclusive that they know of so far this convention. If that is all true then WOW and congrats to Stan!

At least we can get the Stan Sakai exclusive Usagi when he makes that available.

All I saw was Mondo and thought AWESOME! Next time I'll read more slowly. :)

I have nothing but disdain for the people who take advantage of their exhibitor's badge to get in line before the visitors for the sole purpose of flipping the item later on.
I was in Kansas City Comicon as an exhibitor, and despite how much I would have loved to meet Kevin Eastman by getting in line before the visitors, I refrained myself to do so out of respect for the people who have waited for hours before entering the convention floor.

I am glad for Stan that the figure is so popular, but I hope the flippers won't find any buyers. (Unfortunately, I know they will)

Yeah, sometimes I don't understand eBay buyers. For example they can buy the prints/sketchbooks/etc. from Stan's website for less than half the price, just a little google search....
This whole thing is crazy, some people put their stuff to eBay from the hotel room, or even before the convention...
(I remember, after the Charlie Hebdo tragedy, people started to list the memorial issue on eBay, and a few sold for around $10k (the cover price was a couple of euro, crazy world...)

And thanks the print Jabba!!
