Usagi Yojimbo blank cover
I know Stan posted a little while back that he was practicing drawing on a few different (non-Usagi) blank covers to test out different paper and art materials, but then I saw this photo from Poland (I think). It's a back issue, but I've never seen a blank Usagi cover before. Any insight into this? Test run? Poland exclusive? Homemade? Something else entirely?

Re: Usagi Yojimbo blank cover
I have never seen a blank cover for UY 152, or any Usagi comic yet. I think it is a self-made one.
However, Daniel's Dogu company has ordered a bunch of blank variants for IDW's Usagi Yojimbo #1. As Kyle said, I had been testing out various comic book cover stock. Most of them were hideous to draw on. However, there were a couple that were good, so we ordered blanks with that paper stock.
Daniel is figuring out pricing, whether he will make them available for other artists to sketch on, and etc. I'm just doing the drawing.

Could you please elaborate, for someone curious how the actual process of comicking works?

I reached out to the guy who made it and he is sending me a pdf file for it.
Re: Usagi Yojimbo blank cover
Hi All,
Yes, we have submitted our order with IDW regarding the blanks. It's also supposed to be the only blank offered (I think this is the first UY blank, ever) out of all the variants, so we're really excited to see how they turn out!
That sounds like an odd thing to say (since it's blank), but I'm coming from the perspective of how the paper stock holds up to Stan's incredible watercolors. Stan did some tests and there is a particular paper stock that is pretty solid, so that's the one we ordered.
As far as pricing, I'm probably going to come up with a similar format as we did for the Sakai variant's Playmates Toys. I must say, though, that the paper we chose was quite expensive, so that may influence the end price.
With that being said, Dojo members have priority over the larger market, so as far as the blanks themselves, I'm sure I can offer them to members at a discount - with a quantity limit, of course
Best,
Daniel

I've never had an interest in these kinds of covers... until now.

Collector's Paradise might have leaked the retail pricing, as they updated their Facebook signing event page details and this tidbit of information is in there:dhfujii wrote:As far as pricing, I'm probably going to come up with a similar format as we did for the Sakai variant's Playmates Toys. ...there may be a limited edition blank variant comic for sale at $20 each, with sketch rates to be negotiated directly with Mr. Sakai and his family.
