That's my job. I'm good at it, and I'm proud of it!
Hey maichan,
I'd like to publicly apologize if I've offended you in any way. I was trying to add a little humor to my post.
Gaffey
Gaffey, no apology necessary. There was no harm done, and I took no offense from it. I took it as a fun jab between Dojo members, which was why I played along and did the same demerit jab to you on the other discussion. Heck, if we can't have fun picking on one another, what fun is it then? All's good!

She's a hot artist right now, and several other series with her covers are valued up like wildfire. Including the SDCC Usagi issue.
With a breeze comes a storm, but then you'll all be washed away...

If you look her(?) up on Ebay she(?) is doing variant covers everywhere including Kickstarter and Indiegogo projects. Enough so that she has broken into doing A covers for books now.
I picked up color classics 7 today, and was excited to see it contained "Lone Rabbit and Child" from Albedo 3-4 in it. I love revisiting these early stories and seeing how character designs have evolved over the years. Tomoe looks very different in her first appearances. Curious to see where the other Albedo and Critters stories will be included in these new color series.
Casey, I’m completely with you. I am enjoying these reprints for the reasons you mentioned and seeing them reinterpreted with the color artist. Coloring is such an art so it is interesting the choices that are made by someone not named Tom Luth. I find these reprints fun and enjoyable as a long time fan.
I was finally able to get into my LCBS to pick up my Usagi pull list.
Got Color Classics 6, 7 plus Usagi 12 and the FCBD issue!
This is the benefit of a LCBS...I hadn't even talked with the owner but he knows I love Usagi and saved me one anyway.
I wish comic shops got more attention for what they can provide to loyal customers.
I'm enjoying the Color Classics as well! It is "new" Usagi so that is always a good thing!
I do love seeing the new Stan covers but I like the idea of more people finding Usagi because of specific guest cover artists. Especially if that artist is a fan of the series! I wonder how many other artists out there would love to contribute a cover for Usagi???
I'll probably never be able to get that first Peach cover or the Geoff Darrow cover so I'm glad we will get some "A" cover options for these guest artists.
I've always enjoyed Usagi in B&W, but I am REALLY enjoying seeing the old stories in color!
I think the guest covers are a neat idea also.
I tried asking Tessa Rose on FB how she came about doing the variant covers that she did, but I never got a response. I'm curious if IDW solicited artists, or if comic shops/retailers initiate it.... I'd really like to know how that whole process works.

Usually, the comic shop or organization would approach the publisher for permission to do a variant. Sometimes they've already talked to an artist, sometimes they would ask the publisher to be a go-between. The store would have to commit to a minimum amount of copies to make the printing worthwhile. However, they could easily recoup their investment if the campaign goes as hoped. They can also trade variants with other stores to help defray costs.
I've done a few variants--Star Wars, Betty & Veronica, and (I think) Rocket Raccoon as well.
Don't forget: Garfield Homecoming, Jim Henson Storyteller: Fairies, Kong of Skull Island, Radically Rearranged Ronin Ragdolls, Ragnarok: The Breaking of Helheim, and TMNT #100. https://usagiyojimbo.fandom.com/wiki/Ca ... agi_covers
Amazon's listing Volume 1 as "Samurai" and the next spate of color issues we know are labeled "Wanderer's Road," so i guess we'll basically be matching the original volumes.
