Question: Reprints in color?

Post by Maka »

Dear Stan,

As IDW is reprinting in color, where are they getting the artwork to color? Are you cracking opening your FedEx boxes or do those things just exist in digital form at this time?

Peace, maka

Dear Maka,

I have almost all the Usagi story pages, but IDW is printing from digital files that DH Designer Cary had given me back in the day. I had sent Cary all the Fantagraphics, Mirage and early DH original art so he could scan them for the DH library.

I used to send my publishers original art, but for the past 4-5 years I have been scanning and sending them TIF files so the originals do not leave my studio.

Peace, stan

Do you have to use an oversized scanner?

I have an Epson that can easily accommodate 11x17, which is the size of my story pages and covers. It was recommended to me by Designer Cary at Dark Horse.
