My latest DCBS/IST haul. The DCBS package (Usagi Yojimbo 18) was two months late because I had a balance that wasn't paid and they never told me.

I'll pretend you didn't say that. :P

Ed Brubaker is one of my favorite writers. His independent work is fantastic. I also enjoyed his run on Captain America.

Let us know what you think of Wynd once you read it. I was thinking about picking it up, but decided to pass for now. I need to cut back, not expand...

I felt Ronin Island was okay, almost good, but not quite.

My haul from last week, June 16th.

Ronin Island was a huge disappointment. I bought all three trades when I should have just borrowed them from the library.

Wynd is pretty good. The trade is only $15 for 5 or 6 issues. I had to go with the hardcover though (I paid full retail and almost fainted :P). Anyway, it's better than The Woods but not as good as Something is Killing the Children (both Tynion books).

I'm disappointed in myself for never buying BPRD in hardcover. So many of them are out of print and too pricey for my liking. I only have the Hellboy Library editions.

Orcs any good? It reminds me of Head Lopper for some reason.

I have not sat down to read any of ORCS yet, but I have looked through all the issues and have been entertained by the illustrations. :D

I tend to stay away from typical superhero books, and instead, have been trying to focus on books with certain historical or fantasy themes. I wind up buying more books than I can read. But that's a good thing for when I retire... if I live that long.

I've been reading (or is that collecting) Hellboy titles since Hellboy first came out. There were some spin-off titles I did not collect as single, but have since acquired the trades. BPRD, I was getting, but then I wasn't really liking the art for a while so stopped buying the singles, and instead only purchased the trades or hardcovers.

I didn't visit my LCBS this week, but I did receive two packages over the weekend...

I bought Berserk book 1 when it first came out and had no idea it was "reversed." I had the hardest time trying to read it and ended up trading it in to my LCS for the Immortal Hulk volume 1 hardcover.

I've never heard of Carthago Adventures. I don't read much from Humanoids.

Broke down and finally started ordering these.... Volume 1 is scheduled to be delivered Monday. Cary Grazzini did an awesome job, as usual. Would love to see a series of Usagi Yojimbo Library editions in this format (larger page size but lesser page count) collecting two of the original trade editions per book.

Those Hellboys look great. I have all the stories digitally, which isn't as nice but takes up less space. Congratulations, Steve!

As I posted on the fan art page, I got an Usagi & Tomoe commission from Alex Riegel in 2019. This past month Alex has his first professional art gig in Rick Remender's Scumbag #8 (Image comics). Alex posted on his facebook page that 4C Comics was doing mystery art envelopes of the issue with the following:

1) Scumbag #8 signed and remarqued.
2) Scumbag #1 blank sketch cover with Alex's sketch on it.
3) A print 11"x17" of the unused cover (Alex submitted two covers) signed and remarqued.
4) A original thumbnail page that Alex light boxed to do his final inks.
5) Some random sketches
6) Alex would also sketch on the cover of the envelope that all the art was sent in.

I wanted to support Alex, so I bought one mystery envelope. They came on Friday. Here's what I got.

I'd love an Usagi Library Edition, but I'd prefer that it isn't fuzzy like the Hellboy (too much dust). The Harrow County/Black Hammer style would work for me.

Scumbag! Who knew? I always thought you were the wholesome Dojo member. :P I read the first trade and thought it was ok. I'm not sure I'l be picking up the second. Probably will though. I'm weak!

I read issue 8 and it was funny. I liked Rick's Deadly Class and Black Science books.

And I would go for the Library Editions of Usagi in a heartbeat. I have the Harrow County ones and they are beautiful in that larger size.
