Real World...

Post by Steve Hubbell »

I wonder if there is any chance that Stan and Mirage could be talked into
releasing a comic adaption of the Real World story? What do you think?

Abayo...

Side question:
"The Real World" title, is there a connection btween it and the song of the same name written and performed by the Band Queensryche (with Michael Kaman) for the movie "The Last Action Hero"?

OH! DUDE! You just made me have a happy moment with such a thought!

Is there ANYWAY that Dark Horse would agree to such a project as well?

 :D :?: :?:

Steve,

That cover is awesome. :D Whose the artist? It doesn't look like Stan's work, but reminds me of something I saw in the Art of Usagi Hardcover.
Where did you get it?

Issue 1 of the Belgium edition of Usagi Yojimbo, published in 2002 by Enigma / Het B-Gevaar. I believe the artist is Mauricet, and that is the back cover for the issue. Below is the front cover art by Stan for the same issue.

Why buy Dutch comics? Well you could buy the Dutch editions of Usagi Yojimbo because the publisher Enigma reproduced some images as covers, newly colored by the Belgian artist Solid! But as spectacular are the flip covers made by European artists. Each issue has an interesting contribution. Minck Oosterveer (Zodiak), Mauricet (Tellos, Adventures of Superman), Severin (Time Machine) and Stassen (Deogratias) gave the best of themselves and made some collectibles out of it. On the left an example... Contact Enigma at enigma@stripsels.com for more info. http://www.b-gevaar.com/store.asp?lang=eng
Go probably knows more about these than I do since he already has copies. I am still attempting to get an order placed.

Here is a web-site with links to info on all the issues they have published so far:

The Belgian editions have a front cover by myself--these are usually one of my con drawings and so, for the most part, was unused in the US. The back (or false cover) is by a Belgian artist. In this case, by Mauricet aka Momo, who is a talented young artist that also did some work in for DC. Even Michetz (Kogaratsu artist) did a few covers, but those have not yet been published.

Probably not. I would rather work on a new story with Usagi and the Turtles, rather than rework something that's already been done. I don't think Dark Horse would be interested in doing a cross-over, but Mirage might. I'll see Peter Laird in Philadelphia. Maybe some ideas will develop. I'll schedule this project right after the Usagi/Cat Nippon story with Sergio.

Cat Nippon?!? I thought that was a one-off from one of the Critters Specials! :D

COOL!

But I, personally, would love to see another Leo/Usagi crossover!

Here is a reply I kind of liked concerning this from the Yahoo mailing list...

I would love a comic of either Battle Nexus or this new series of eps, but
who would draw it? LOL. I would love to see a reunion of the team that was working on the Old Archie TMNT Comics if possible, the feel of some of those books reminds me a great deal of the current TMNT toon. Just enough toon to keep it fun, but enough grit so you won't go into sugar shock.

Speakin' of the Catnippon / Usagi story... I've been waitin' on that since what, issue #10 from Dark Horse? Is it actually still a possability?

Hold on a sec, before we get the Usagi/Catnippon crossover we gotta have the eagerly awaited Usagi/Nilson crossover! I've been waiting for that since I was a kid. Stan, I'm in my 30s now...I think I've waited long enough!!!!

Regarding a TMNT/Usagi crossover by Mirage...only on one condition... that the art is done by both yourself and Peter...you on the Usagi characters and Pete on the TMNT.... take a look at TMNT Vol 1 #8 where Dave Sim collaborated with Eastman and Laird to complete what I still consider one of the best-executed crossovers in the history of comics. Or Usagi's Ark, where you jumped in to the Space Ark universe with Usagi and Co....or the Patrick Rabbit cameo (or was that Frank the Unicorn?)...or the Equine cameo with Nilson and Hermy. That would be way cool. Even cooler if you could get Kevin back in on it, but that would probably be a no go....

I believe I’m in the minority when it comes to the Turtles & Usagi. Their appearances in the Mirage comics were enough for me.

I’m sure another Turtle crossover would be a better seller, but if you had to do one I’d rather see Usagi/Nilson or Usagi/Cat Nippon with Sergio.

Well, what's wrong with everyone getting a little of what they want? It's not like we're being greedy, is it?
