I've been working on this picture all week. I think it looks okay for the effort though. Couldn't help but try a few new effects, which is why it took so long. But I learned a lot about a couple of my programs, so that's good^_^ And I'm sure it will go faster if I need to do something like it again.
There's something about starry nights at forests that really attracts me. I remember playing "The Secret of Monky Island" (the first one, many many years ago), and one of the scenes consisted of following some guy through a forest at night, and I would just stare at the screen looking at the artwork, which simply amazed me. When I was 8 or 9 years old I slept for the first time in the middle of a forest, without any tents or roof of any kind (a cloudless summer night in Ibiza), and I don't think I'll ever forget it: it was beautiful. Except for my cousin's dog, which slept with us and started rolling over us at night .
Your artork reminded me of that. And the lake and the fireflies (or at least I think they are) add something magic to the whole scene. I wish you had a higher resolution version to use as a background... Do you? .

He was a lot of fun^_^ There's just something about the little guy deciding to wear a towel to the hot springs that makes me laugh whenever I look at it.
Wow... That camping trip of yours sounds like a dream, Ziritrion^_^ Except for the fidgety dog, I suppose^_^; The night sky really is beautiful, though. I've never been camping, but I remember wading in a pool one summer evening when I was young. The stars. The beautiful light of the moon reflecting the water's ripples on you. It had the same kind of magic quality I think you're talking about. And it is amazing how powerfully that feeling comes back when you see something that reminds you of it...
As for the wallpaper, YES! The original image is MUCH larger. Just tell me what size wallpaper you need and I'll put one together for you^_^
