"The Treasure of the Mother of Mountains" (spoiler

Post by Steve Hubbell »

The next major story-line in the saga of Usagi Yojimbo has begun with the release of last Wednesday's issue. Unfortunately (?), Miyamoto Usagi is not to be seen in the issue, with the story centered around Tomoe Ame instead.

The following descriptions for the first four issues of the "The Treasure of the Mother of Mountains" story-line are from the web-site of Dark Horse Comics and their Usagi Yojimbo Zone.
Usagi Yojimbo #83
Internationally celebrated storyteller Stan Sakai continues his tales of samurai adventure in Usagi Yojimbo! This issue begins a multipart story with the discovery of gold in a mountain range. The hunter who finds it is captured and tortured by a power-hungry lord, but there is another problem: the gold technically lies in the neighboring Geishu Province. As if that weren't enough news for the Geishu border, there is a sudden outbreak of the plague! Lord Noriyuki sends his bodyguard Tomoe to investigate, and she and her retinue soon enter a village in the "hot zone"...with lethal results! What new perils threaten this beloved character? And what about the gold? Find out in the first part of "The Treasure of the Mother of Mountains," this month in Usagi Yojimbo!

Internationally celebrated storyteller Stan Sakai continues his tales of samurai adventure in Usagi Yojimbo! This issue is the second installment of the multipart story "The Treasure of the Mother of Mountains." Lord Sanada, a power-hungry tyrant from last issue, is operating a secret gold mine in the neighboring Geishu Province-and keeping inquisitive minds at bay with rumors of the plague. The warriors sent by Lord Noriyuki to investigate have been either killed or captured, and Sanada's samurai are now in hot pursuit of Tomoe! Back at the Geishu castle, ambitious sycophant Lord Horikawa plots to get rid of Tomoe himself. Unaware of any trouble, a familiar rabbit ronin enters into Geishu territory...
