Lone Wolf vs Samurai Executioner

Post by CWmax »

Does anyone know which chapter it is in the Lone Wolf and Cub series- that Ogami Ito faces off against the Kubikiri Asa?

I'd like to go back and read that now that Dark Horse is releasing Samurai Executioner...

Thanks,

I just read it...Man it's so much more cool now having read some of Samurai Executioner....

When I had read LWaC previously...the Executioner was just one of a pantheon of opponents for Ogami Itto....The story was so much more cool knowing how The decapitator was on equal footing with both the Yagu and Lone Wolf....

The end was odd....(SPOILER)..........

.......Why would the Yagu put iron rings around the buhddas necks? Why not let the them face off fair and square?--At least one would die and maybe both would be killed?

Why did they go to the trouble of breaking the Executioners sword with the iron ring....

That was a tough ending for the Executioner....

Samurai Executioner Volume 4 spoiler...

The most recent volume has the story "An Offering of Cut Mochi", which might offer a possible explation to that question, but I don't know if it is the actual reason behind what the Yagyu did.

While Ogami Itto was samurai, Asaemon was ronin - that fact was important when it came to executing members of the samuai caste.

Then again, maybe the sword that hit the iron collar could have belonged to either swordsman and it was just luck that Asaemon swung on that particular statue.

It has been a while since I read "Decapitator Asaemon" and I need to go back and re-read it.

By the way, did you see the release date Dark Horse Comics has posted for Volume #6 of Samurai Executioner? March 2006! Talk about a long wait!!
