Here is a rare original painting of the main characters from the Space Usagi Comics. This is an original painting done in ink and airbrush on Mirage comics paper stock. Most likely the final image for the cover art. Art is done by Stan Sakai depicting Samuroid, Livia and Usagi.
Overall Page Size 11 x 17 Inches. 21190-CA

Promotional art for proposed Space Usagi television series, not cover art!

That was done as a promotion for the Space Usagi proposed TV series. I don't remember if the inks were redrawn by the colorist, or if it was colored directly over my inks. It was about 10 years ago, and there was a lot of art produced over such a short time.
2. SPACE USAGI 2 VOL 1. Original Art by Stan Sakai

Ebay seller frazettaish wrote:This is the original art for what I think is an unused cover to Space Usagi 2 issue 3 published by Mirage. It may have been published but I have included a picture of the used cover which is not included. Sakai has written at the very top left SPACE USAGI II #3 and COVER on the upper right. Signed and dated 1993. The artwork is beautiful and clean. It has brilliant white paper and rich, deep blacks. It was executed on bristol board and measures 11 1/2" X 17". I apologize for the one pictures poor quality, it was taken with a digital camera which has a wide angle lens. Stan Sakai is best known for his comic book series Usagi Yojimbo.

And now there are a couple more covers up. I think one of the paintings may go for the BIN. I may bid higher on the dinosaur fight one, but I feel no urgency over it.

SIDE NOTE:
I thought the Buy-it-now option ended when the first bid was placed? Anyone know the rules on this?

The BIN disappears if and when the reserve price is met.

For some silly reason, I thought the starting bid was the amount the reserve was set for. Can't understand why they would start bidding at $300.00 but have a reserve set somewhat higher. Ah, the mysteries of Ebay, confuses simple minds like mine... Probably why I don't sell things on Ebay...

I keep all my published story pages. I have sold unpublished pages. This particular one was a piece of presentation art for the Space Usagi TV series. We changed the name to Dr. Starbright because we thought it was easier to pronounce than Dr Takenoko. I remember selling this piece.

I am, though, at a loss as to how Frazettaish got all the SU art he did. I don't think I sold any of that stuff, but Mirage believes all that art was returned. But, it was so long ago and we we produced a LOT of presentation art. I guess I could have sold them, or even given them away.
