First anime

Post by Stan Sakai »

In this article from the Mainichi Shimbun (Daily Newspaper), the oldest piece of anime has been discovered in Kyoto.

The film, made shortly after 1900, was discovered in a home and turned over to experts at the Osaka University of Arts. The sequence consists of 50 frames, and features a boy in a sailor suit who writes "katsudo shashin" (moving pictures) with a brush, then removes his hat and salutes.

Stan, the link you provided doesn't seem to be working

Is the name of the artist behind this anime given, by the way?
