Some of the more casual collectors will be happy to let it slip by, being content with the first edition. However hard core collectors and completionists will still want to get a copy because of the new cover and new introduction page.
Then there are also the resellers (flippers) who will want it because of the limited run, and the high demand for anything Usagi related right now, in hopes of making a profit off it.
I think re-issuing the softcovers is a great idea, especially for the more casual or new readers/collectors.
