Story Synopsis

This story starts with Usagi walking through a forrest, when suddenly his Dairokkan (sixth sence) detects a follower. Usagi quiclky turns and draws his Katana but sees nobody. He sheathes his sword and walks on while from behind a strange character watches him. Usagi then approaches an Inn where there happen to be some drunken brigands laughing it up and they eye him with suspicion.

When they notice his purse is "worth our effort" they decilde they will relieve him of his money, but Usagi just plays sarcastically with them.

Then along the road comes a suspicious samurai wearing a cloak and a hat that covers almost his entire face. The brigands decide he is a better target and upon departing to follow him tell Usagi to "count himself as fortunate". The brigands catch, surround and threaten the samurai, only to see his strange eyes as he tries to "hypnotize" them. The threats continue and the samurai does not answer. They attack and all but one brigand dies.

The last brigand pleads with the samurai not to kill him as Usagi enters the scene announcing "THAT'S ENOUGH". Usagi excuses himself and explains his intentions were to warn the samurai of the following brigands (which he had just killed). The samurai thanks Usagi and leaves saying "I'll see you again soon enough".

As Usagi watches the strange samurai leave, the last brigand decides to attack him from behind, Usagi sensing this wheels around and kills him.

Later Usagi is dancing down the road singing to himself, when he is startled by a voice from his side. he is confronted by the same samurai who killed the brigands before. Usagi notes that this samurai can conceal his Wa (Harmonious spirit)and thereforehis Dairokkan (sixth sense) could not detect him. The samurai knows of the last brigands death. Usagi states his name and ask the samurai of his.

samurai says he is called "Oyama Tadanori". Usagi has heard of him and says "they call you The Lord of Owls", this is because the owl is a premonition of death, Usagi also finds out that this samurai can see death in people eyes.

The samurai states he saw death on Usagi's face and that is why he waited for him but which of them will kill the other is still unclear. Usagi questions the Lord of Owls and says "There is no reason for us to be adversaries", the Lord of Owls retorts that there will be one day

The Lord of Owls then leaves speaking the words "'til we meet again".
